Education: Christian Formation For All Ages
St. Paul’s offers Christian
formation for all ages.
9:00 a.m.
“Adult Bible Study.” Meets in the Guild Hall. Led by John Lothrop the class discusses the
psalms and lessons prescribed for each Sunday.
9:30 a.m.“Beulahland,” an
exceptional children’s Sunday School program. Intended for children from ages 3 to 10, the
program uses colorful felt figures to tell the sacred stories. The children are encouraged to respond
through crafts or retelling the stories themselves. The whole experience is presented in a light
liturgical setting of 45 minutes duration and takes place in the St. Nicholas
chapel on the second floor
9:30 a.m. “Adult Forum” Led by Deacon Carol Duncan this class offers
presentations on a variety of subjects.
Current topic is from the book “The Word is Very Near
You: A guide to Pray with Scripture” by
Martin Smith. It is not necessary to
purchase the book. The class meets in
the “Green Room” on the second floor of the Guild Hall.
Wednesday Study Group. The group, which has been meeting for years, welcomes
new members. They have been discussing “The
Cloister Walk” by Kathleen Norris.
Education for Ministry (EFM) is an intense educational experience that combines
Bible study, theological reflection and group interaction. EFM meets once a week at a time determined by
the participants. The three-hour
sessions include a meal, time for discussion, and worship. Study materials are from the School of
Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee TN and are on college
level. First year students study the
Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), second year studies New Testament, third
year the history of Christianity, and fourth year, theology. The group can have all four levels running
simultaneously.
New participants are admitted in the fall each year.
