| Education: Christian Formation
For All Ages St. Paul’s offers Christian formation for all ages. Sundays 9:00
AM - Adult Bible Study. Meets in the Guild
Hall. Led
by John Lothrop, the class discusses the psalms and lessons prescribed
for the day.
9:15
AM - Adult Forum led by Deacon Carol Duncan. This
class
offers presentations on a variety of subjects. The
current
topic is from the book The Bible: A Biography by Karen Armstrong. The class meets in the “Green Room” on the second
floor of the Guild Hall.
9:15 AM
- Beulah Land, an exceptional children’s Sunday School
program. Intended for children from ages 3 to 10, the program
uses colorful felt figures to tell the sacred stories. The
children are encouraged to respond through crafts or retelling the
stories themselves. The whole experience is presented in a
light
liturgical setting of 45 minutes duration and takes place in the St.
Nicholas chapel on the second
floor.
Wednesday Study Group The group, which has
been meeting for years, welcomes new members. The current discussion is about Frederick Schmidt's Conversations with Scripture: The Gospel of Luke. Led by Rev. Barbara, it meets in the Guild Hall at 10:00 AM and is followed by a Eucharist.
Education for Ministry (EFM) EFM
is an intense educational experience that combines Bible study,
theological reflection and group interaction. EFM meets once
a
week at a time determined by the participants. The three-hour
sessions include a meal, time for discussion, and worship.
Study
materials are from the School of Theology at the University of the
South, Sewanee TN and are on a college level. First year
students
study the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), second year studies New
Testament, third year the history of Christianity, and fourth year,
theology. The group can have all four levels running
simultaneously.
New
participants are admitted in the fall each year. Informational
pamphlets are available in the narthex. Participation costs
$340
per year.
